ING INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT

Investment Solutions

The specialists in the Investment Solutions team offer three areas of expertise: Client Advisory, Strategic Advice and Integrated Balance Sheet Management.

Client Advisory: single point of contact
As a committed partner, we strongly believe our clients’ needs are best served by convenience and transparency. Therefore, ICS offers you a single point of contact: the individually assigned Client Advisor. Our expert will identify your business needs and also efficiently and effectively translate these to tailor-made solutions, building on all the modules of the ICS proposition. Your expert advisor will report to you on a regular basis, based on reporting on both the individual results of the modules and the cumulative result of ICS.

Strategic Advice: providing the best strategic asset allocation
The Client Advisor closely cooperates with the specialists in our Strategic Advice team. With their Asset Liability Management (ALM) knowledge, together with the economic outlook of the investment professionals of ING IM, they can assist in various stages of the strategic asset allocation (SAA) process incorporating the balance sheet structure, the regulatory framework and financial, risk, & policy objectives of the client. They compute different scenarios to find the best strategic portfolio allocation for you. The team can also provide you with an ALM scan, which is a simpler version of an ALM study and gives insight into the effect of the investment policy on your balance sheet. Through the SAA analysis we can further optimize the investment policy, by diversifying over various strategies within asset classes.

Integrated Balance Sheet Management: managing risk profile
The Integrated Balance Sheet Manager (IBM) is responsible for continuously monitoring and managing the total risk profile of the balance sheet. IBM is the centre of excellence for implementation and the daily control of your portfolio, taking into account your specific liability profile.

Primary activities of IBM are:
Overall portfolio construction and portfolio implementation (including matching portfolios). The portfolio construction of the asset side is undertaken by the multi-manager, Altis, whilst keeping to the risk budget set by IBM

Balance sheet risk management (risk management and monitoring, cash & collateral management, transition management and rebalancing)

Derivatives overlay management (e.g. interest rate, inflation and currency) and execution
Managing a matching portfolio including overlay constructions
Transferring and budgeting risk to various selected managers
