ING Global Opportunities Fund wins Lipper Award for ‘Best Performing Global Equity Fund’

Lipper has given the ING Global Opportunities Fund the accolade of ‘Best Performing Global Equity Fund’. This prestigious award was presented yesterday evening at the Okura Hotel in Amsterdam. The prestigious Lipper awards highlight funds which have excelled in their category with consistently good returns against managed risks. On the back of its determined selections, the ING Global Opportunities Fund achieved a result of 47.3% after costs in 2009. Over the past five years the Fund achieved an average annual return of 7.6% after costs. It thus outperformed the MSCI AC World Index Net by 5.7%, at a risk exposure equal to the market’s.

The ING Global Opportunities Fund uses an investment process and investment strategy which is based on a framework of investment themes within which global trends and structural changes are correlated with investment opportunities. The managers select the most attractive stocks on the basis of these investment themes. The Fund invests in both mature and emerging markets.

The investment themes are based on major changes and trends in the economy which unfold over a longer period. The managers have decided on seven major themes: digital revolution, economic growth, social and political developments, consumer behaviour, energy and environment, industrial innovation, and demographic changes.
